The intent of this is to see where the science students are in terms of their chemistry course. More specifically at what stage are they in knowing the core concepts and applying the chemical equations.
With the above chart, we can stipulate that have a 'low' understanding of the concepts that were taught in week one, continue more likely this path in regards to concepts in week 3. They mainly stay in the box of less than 75. This pattern of behaviour almost continues with the medium and higher scores. Whilst there are some who slightly deviate e.g. the one scoring 75 in week 1, then 60 in week 3. And then others slightly improving.
With this information, I would stipulate that those who have a low score in terms of understanding the concepts of week 3, score lower as well in week 3. Whereas those who are in the middle tend to stay there as well seen with those who high understanding of the concepts from week 3.
In terms of using K-means clustering graph, it clearly outlines that it has identified that there are actually 3 groups that following similar patterns of behaviour. The visualization divided in three colours showcase that. However what I particularly noted as useful in my interpretation was with the radar chart, in order to make sense of the similarities that was proposed in the biplot. This is mainly for my own personal visual understanding.
Whilst in my opinion, without have the vertical line I would have maybe mentioned the possibility of having 2 cluster instead of 3 as the visual elbow for me starts at 2. However reflecting back on this and based on the video I must state that using the below ratio.
Allowed me to understand how the computer sees it, the clear cut of at 3 than at another number as it goes back up at 4. This showcases the confirmation that indeed there are in this analysis three cluster interpretable from the data.
