Netflix Show Analysis

Objective

What kind of shows and films are rated the highest by users?

Observations

I am going to use a bar chart to see the highest rated TV shows.

There are a lot of titles, so I am going to focus on the top 10.

I can break this top 10 into three groups. The first group being 13 Reasons Why, Prison Break, and Girlboss. The second group being, Grey’s Anatomy, Shameless (U.S.) and Pretty Little Liars. Lastly the third group being, Anastasia, New Girl, Vampire Diaries and Grace and Frankie.

So now I know what the top ten are, but I want to know characteristics about them. So I am going to color (group by) their ratings (audience appropriateness).

It looks like TV-MA (Mature) and TV-14 (Teen) are the most popular in the top 10.

Anastasia is the only one with a G rating and the only movie among the top 10.

What other characteristic is related to the user rating score? I am going to use Random Forest to find variables that are related.

It looks like release year is the most relative to user rating score. I am going to check it out.

It looks like a majority of the scored films are fairly new realeases, a a large chunk of the ratings have a score higher than 75.

Conclusion

I wanted to know what kind of shows and films were scored the highest by users.

  • Highly scored films and TV shows are rated mostly for Teens and Mature audiences.

  • Most of the highest user scores are for TV Shows.

  • The most scores are for newer releases.
