How to Setup Host Name and SSL on your Hosted Exploratory Server.

It explains when you need a hostname, and how to set up a hostname and SSL on your hosted Exploratory Server.

Do I need a hostname?

You need to set up a hostname on your hosted Exploratory Server if any of the following situations is applicable.

  • If you want to use SSL (Secure Socket Layer) when you access the Exploratory Server.
  • If you use the OAuth-based data (Google Analytics, Google Sheets, Google BigQuery, Stripe, or Salesforce) on the Exploratory Server.

How to Setup a Host Name and SSL.

Hostname using the Exploratory's domain such as "your-company.exploratory.io".

  • You decide the hostname and let us know when you request the hosted Exploratory Server.
  • We (Exploratory Team) set up the host name on the hosted Exploratory Server.
  • We obtain and install the SSL certificate.

Hostname using your domain such as "exploratory.your-company.com".

  • You decide the hostname and let us know when you request the hosted Exploratory Server.
  • We (Exploratory Team) will provide the static IP address for the hosted Exploratory Server.
  • You set up the DNS record using the IP address and inform us once it is done. We configure the hosted Exploratory Server to use the hostname.
  • You obtain the SSL certificate and provide it to us. We need the following information.
    • SSL certificate
    • Intermediate certificate
    • Private key
    • Root certificate (Only if you use your own Root CA)
  • We install the SSL certificate to enable the SSL on your hosted Exploratory Server.
