University Rating Analysis

Objective

I would like to know which universities are making significant improvement on the total score year by year because I think those universities are putting a lot of effort on making themselves better. I also would like to know which countries have those type of universities. Those countries should be serious about improving their school system.

Analysis

I did the data wrangling to calculate the total score improvement rate per year for universities that have historical data.

I plotted universities that have improved the ratio of total score more than 5% per year. X axis is the improvement rate per year, and Y axis is the most recent total score. A couple of universtities in UK, Germany, Netherlands are positioned in upper side of the chart. They may be able to surpass so-called “top” universities someday.

The another interesting thing is that there is no US universities in there. It is because some of them are already have higher total scores so that not much space left to improve.

Next, I split universtities in 2 categories, improvement rate is positive or negative. And I checked out the positive/negative ratio per country.

Some countries have 100%/0% values. Maybe because the number of universities are very small. I used a pivot table to compare numbers side by side. Germany, Netherlands, UK have more than 10 universities and more than 70% of those are improving.
