Introducing the AI Note Editor

The process of compiling data analysis results into reports often requires significant time and effort.

After creating charts and graphs, the task of properly arranging them and articulating the insights gained poses a considerable burden on analysts.

The “AI Note Editor,” to be introduced in Exploratory version 14, addresses these challenges and fundamentally transforms the way notes are written.

Problems with Writing Notes Manually

Exploratory’s note feature allows users to create analysis reports by combining charts and text. However, traditional methods presented several challenges.

Time-consuming Report Structure Design

After analyzing data and creating charts, it can be surprisingly difficult to decide on the report’s structure and how to present explanations clearly. Constructing appropriate components such as background, objectives, analysis results, proposals, and conclusions requires a certain level of experience and skill.

High Barrier to Interpreting Charts and Adding Explanations

Even after analyzing data and creating charts, articulating the insights derived from those charts in written form can be challenging for data analysis beginners.

Difficulty in Creating Concise Summaries

Summarizing detailed analysis results succinctly and extracting key points requires strong writing skills. Furthermore, improving existing text or changing its tone manually can be time-consuming.

Effort for Multilingual Support

When documents need to be created in multiple languages, such as English or French, users typically have to move to another tool for translation and then bring it back to Exploratory. This back-and-forth process is inefficient and carries the risk of format disruption for charts, formulas, and other elements.

Benefits of the AI Note Editor

The AI Note Editor is designed to solve these challenges.

Its greatest benefit is enabling an efficient workflow that is completed within Exploratory.

The AI Note Editor significantly reduces note creation time. With just a few lines of notes or only charts, the AI can automatically generate a full-fledged report, including components such as background, objectives, analysis results, proposals, and conclusions.

Furthermore, charts embedded in notes can be explained by the AI, eliminating the need for users to write chart interpretations themselves.

This eliminates the burden of starting a report from scratch, allowing users to complete high-quality reports simply by reviewing and revising the AI-generated draft.

Moreover, customization of the output is possible. Beyond standard features, users can create their own prompts and save them as templates. This allows for easy and repeatable generation of outputs tailored to an organization’s specific report formats or analytical styles.

How to Use the AI Note Editor

The AI Note Editor is launched from the “AI Editor” button on the note screen.

The menu offers frequently used functions, which can be selected according to purpose.

Summarize

To concisely summarize long text within a note, use “Summarize” as the type.

Selecting text and executing this function generates a short passage extracting the key points. This is useful for creating executive summaries or overview sections.

Translate

When selecting the “Translate” function as the type, a screen to choose the target language appears.

Selecting a language such as English, Japanese, or French and executing the function translates the entire note.

Crucially, charts, images, formulas, and LaTeX notations are translated while maintaining their original positions and formatting.

For example, if you want to publish a note created in English as an French or Japanese version, traditionally you would have to translate it using another tool and then bring it back to Exploratory. With the AI Note Editor, this can be done with a single click.

Analysis Report

“Create Analysis Report” is one of the most powerful features of the AI Note Editor.

By simply adding charts to a note and executing this function, a full-fledged analysis report is automatically generated, complete with chart explanations.

For instance, from a state where only a few charts, such as retention rate or NPS, have been added to a note, a complete report with the following structure can be generated:

  • Executive Summary
  • Background and Objectives
  • Explanation of Analysis Methods
  • Detailed Analysis Results (charts appropriately placed)
  • Insights on Retention Rate and Onboarding
  • Proposals and Action Items
  • Conclusion
  • Supplementary Materials

Furthermore, insights that can be derived from the chart are output in text format below the chart. This eliminates the need to manually write out the chart interpretation yourself.

By clicking “Replace,” the original note content can be replaced with the generated analysis report.

Custom Prompts & Registered Templates

Beyond standard features, “Custom Prompts” allow users to provide unique instructions to the AI, enabling the creation of proprietary analysis report formats.

Even more conveniently, custom prompts can be saved as “Registered Templates.” Once a prompt is created and templated, there’s no need to rewrite it every time you want to generate a report in the same format.

For example, the following is a prompt for creating an analysis article, where the report structure can be specified in Markdown format.
